July is supposed to be about the Muscle Mayhem in Sacramento, California.  It has been since 1998.  It is always such a fun and ultra-competitive event.  It’s like a reunion for many athletes, judges, and staff to converge every year and more recently like a social media celebrity show for all.  It’s become a very international event with winners from Hong Kong, Mexico, China, Italy, Switzerland, and Canada.  The weather is hot, the music is awesome, the bodies are Amazing, and there are smiles all around.  It’s the summertime.  This is 2020, and July has come and gone.  We have tried to remain hopeful for an October event, yet we can’t overcome all of the issues surrounding Covid-19.

We are so very sorry to announce that the 2020 INBF/WNBF Muscle Mayhem event will be cancelled.  The Virus is rampant in California, and our schools and gyms remain closed in many counties.  As school district employees, along with a great 21 year history at Sheldon High School’s Performing Arts Center, we have reached out to district personnel for months with plans to hold the competition with all Covid protocols in place, without an audience, and limiting a minimal amount of people inside at once.  They will not allow any events through October at least.  We have searched hotels, churches, and other outdoor venues without success.  The quarantine requirements also create an insurmountable obstacle for travel. We both competed as WNBF Pro bodybuilders for years, and know exactly how hard the athletes have worked.  Especially within these very stressful and uncertain times, we wanted to announce as soon as possible that the contest cannot take place.  We Thank everyone for all of their hard work and dedication to natural bodybuilding.

Please stay safe and healthy, and it Will be Mayhem in July 2021.
